  • 1.Open to Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India

  • 2.He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st Dec of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./B.D.S. course.

  • Pattern

  • 1. NEET – Phase I was conducted only in the offline (paper and pen) mode. NEET – Phase II is also scheduled to be conducted in the offline mode only. The NEET exam consists of a single paper with 180 objective type questions with four options provided, of which only one option would be correct. The aspirants have to mark the correct answer of the OMR sheet provided with the NEET paper using a blue/ black ball point pen ONLY.

  • The 180 multiple choice questions in the NEET paper are usually distributed between subjects as given below:
    • Physics – 45 MCQs
    • Chemistry – 45 MCQs
    • Botany – 45 MCQs and Zoology – 45 MCQs

Age Limit

  • 1. General category - 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination.

  • 2. The upper age limit for candidates seeking admission in MBBS/BDS seats under the control of participating States/Universities/Institutions shall be as per the rules of the State/University/Institution concerned.

  • 3. The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Bio- technology at the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, it is 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates. Further, for persons for locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum of 45% marks for General-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH are required.

  • 4. State Code of Eligibility and Domicile: Candidates may choose State Code(s) on the basis of his/her eligibility to claim seats under State Quota in any State. Candidate’s rank in the merit list for State Quota seats will be generated on the basis of the State Code of Eligibility filled in by the candidates in the application form.

  • 5. Those who are appearing Class XII examination in 2017 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally

  • Marking Scheme

    • 4 marks for every correct response

    • 1 mark to be deducted for every incorrect response

    • No deduction to be made if no response is indicated for an item in the answer sheet.

    • More than one answer indicated a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked.

    Time Duration

  • NEET exam is conducted for a duration of 3 hours. The time schedule for NEET II is as given below:

    • Entry in the Examination Hall : 7.30 AM to 9.30 AM

    • Checking of Admit Cards by the invigilator : 9.30 AM to 9.45 AM

    • Distribution of Test Booklet : 9.45 AM

    • Seal of the Test Booklet to be broken/ opened to take out the Answer Sheet : 9.55 AM

    • Latest Entry in the Examination Hall : 9.30 AM

    • NEET exam Commences : 10.00 AM

    • NEET exam Concludes : 01.00 PM
